Circle Ranch is located in Ione, CA., 45 miles east of Sacramento, in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada.

Although we are still primarily a commercial cow-calf operation, our focus has turned more to the seed stock business in the last several years. In 1991 we purchased 16 open Simmental heifers from Nichols Farms in Bridgewater, Iowa.

This was the foundation of our purebred Simmental herd. Shortly after, we purchased Angus embryos to start our Angus herd. All of our Angus cows are artificially inseminated one time to Angus bulls, and then followed up with a Simmental clean-up bull.

The half blood bulls have been easy to market and the half blood females, in our opinion, are the ideal beef cow. It didn't take long to realize the direction we wanted to go was to stabilize our half blood females and breed them to half blood SimAngus bulls. Today our purebred herd consists of purebred Angus females and SimAngus females which are 50% Angus and 50% Simmental.
